Certificate III... Done and Dusted!!!

[This post is replacing two that I wrote yesterday, but for some silly reason didn't upload...]

I am a little bit excited right now! I just picked up my parchment for Certificate III in Business Administration! It feels SO good to have that official piece of paper, telling me that I have completed all of the units in the course :D

Now, where to hang it on the wall..............

End-of-Term!!!!!!!!!

Hello to you all, this rainy afternoon on September 22, 2009!

The weather has been super-weird over the past couple days; yesterday there was thunder, lightning, and rain, all on and off through-out the day. We were a bit worried at work, as lightning is really dangerous for radio; systems can crash if it strikes or something. The lights flickered a bit in the offices at one stage, but it was okay, other than one radio station going off-air for a short amount of time.

I'm at TAFE right now, and am finding it REALLY hard to concentrate. I think it's because this is the last week of term... Although, I also think the weather has a big part to blame! I just feel really down today; really tired and "blah". It is not nice :'(

But I can't wait for this term to end!! Over the holidays, Elyse and I are house-sitting in Craigmore, and that is going to be awesome! I've never house-sit before, and I am really looking forward to the independence and new things that it's sure to bring :D
I think we're planning on eating some meals at our family's houses (my parents have requested that I try to come home as often as possible--isn't that typical?!?! :P), and I want to invite both of our families to come over and have a meal with us.
I'll still have 2 days of work a week, but I will have no TAFE, no church bulletin and no Youth Group, so hopefully this will be a time of rest! I had hoped to do some TAFE work while house-sitting, but the house doesn't have broadband internet, and the subject I'm doing at the moment is pretty much internet-based, so that will almost be impossible!

One other thing that's coming up is a hike up Waterfall Gully (to Mount Lofty) this weekend. Jewelz has planned for a bunch of us to go, so hopefully and prayerfully it will be good weather!!!

Happy holidays (to those of you who are lucky)!!!!!

Interstate!!

Hello!

I recently returned from a trip interstate! I had 2 weeks of holidays, and it was amazing. I loved it!!!

On Sunday the 19th of July, I flew to Sydney. I'd never flown by myself before, so it was kinda exciting :P I stayed with my friend Annelise there. Annelise and I have been friends since we were 7 years old. We started writing through ACE (school), from the pen pal section in the newsletter, and have become better friends over the years (yes, that makes me sound old :S).

I spent a week with Annelise and her family, and we went shopping at the DFO's, went to the beach (cos the weather was SO nice the whole time--about 20 degrees for the whole week!), shopping in Wollongong, played cards with her lovely older brothers, had a photoshoot, and learned ballroom dancing from her Mum. Which, by the way, I absolutely love!

I just loved the time with Annelise and her family; just getting to know them, learn more about their family and having fun!

On Saturday the 25th of July I took the bus down to Canberra. The rest of my family had spend the week with my Uncle and 2 cousins, and they picked me up. The following day (Sunday), we drove to the snow!! We stopped at Adaminaby to pick up our skis and ski boots (we'd borrowed all of the other clothes from friends).

After that, we went straight to the snow slopes. It is so beautiful!!!!!!! I just love snow. I miss it so much :( We headed out to start skiing, and my Uncle taught us the basics (how to stop and how to turn). It took me forEVER to get going on my skis. And taht wasn't even going down the slope. It took me 5 minutes to move 7 metres across the snow. Seriously. I just kept sliding back, inching forward, sliding back, inching forward...

Anyway, by the end of the first day I was getting a bit better, and then the rest of the time I had an absolute ball!!!!! I definitely recommend skiing for if you want an active holiday!!!!!!!!

We got back home to Gawler on July 31--just in time for Craigmore Christian School's Prefect's Dinner! Julia, Elyse and I had been invited by Rosie (Head Prefect) to attend the dinner, so we all got dressed up and went down together. It was a good time to take photos and catch up with people :)

Since we returned from our holiday interstate, I've been back at work and TAFE. My traineeship finishes in 2 months' time, so I don't have too much longer left! Today I finished Complex Spreadsheets, here at TAFE, so now I've completed 2 units from Certificate 4 in Business Admin, so that's pretty exciting!! I now have to work out what subject/s I will do next.

It's lunch time now... Byeeee!!

Many things...

Hi everyone :)

I know it's been ages since I've posted... So I'll try to give an update on many things that have been happening.

Firstly, as you know, I've finished Cert III in Business Admin at TAFE. I'm still very happy with that, and I've moved on to a Cert IV subject. I am applying for a Concession / Health Care Card, which will practically half the price of each subject. I am praying that my application will be accepted!

Secondly, I had been thinking that my traineeship at Flow FM would finish at the end of June or in July, but I happened to come across my Apprenticeship contract, and it actually doesn't finish until about September! This is great, as it gives me time to figure out what I'm going to do next...

Which brings me to work. I'd been planning to continue to work at Flow after my traineeship had finished. It seems now that I won't be applying for a position there, as the one being advertised is Admin / Sales Support (which includes production and sales administration, which doesn't particularly interest me at this point), and it is also full time--and I don't want to be working full-time at the moment. I haven't talked to my bosses yet, but I am not relying on another position becoming available in the near future.
It would be great if you could pray that God will give me real direction about where to apply for a job. For me, a place in Gawler for 3 or 4 days a week would be ideal, but who knows what God has planned!!

Last week was a long weekend in SA, and on Monday I joined a big group of people from Craigmore CC to play footy in Tanunda! It was a GREAT day... A bit cold, but playing footy was so much fun!!! Julia and I were on opposite teams, and we played against each other ("man-to-man") for the whole game, which was loads of fun. I'm a netball player, and I'm not used to being able to just jump in where the ball is and not care about bumping people and pushing and shoving--that was probably the highlight for me :)

And this coming weekend, tomorrow (Friday) night I'm going on a Youth Group Camp at Waikerie, with my Youth Group. Including a few adults, there will be around 20 of us, which is a fabulous amount, for my church! It'll be freezing, but I'm looking forward to spending time with the youth and hoping to get to know them better.
On Sunday we have a church lunch, which will be great (as I said to a guy at work today, "Where there's food, it's great!"--or something like that!).

Love and God bless,
~Rachel

Finished Cert 3!!!!

Hi everyone,

Now that almost two weeks have passed since I posted about TAFE, this is another update... I have finished my Certificate 3 in Business Admin!!!!!! I'm SO excited and happy!!!!! I got everything signed off yesterday, and I also put in my Parchment Application, as well as a completed survey and a Virtual Enterprise Testimony.

I didn't expect to finish it quite this early, so I'm quite pleased with how it went :)

I'm going to continue studying for a bit longer. I'm enrolling in a few subjects from Certificate 4 in Business Admin. This won't be part of my traineeship at Flow FM--these are subjects that I want to do, and I will also be paying for them. They're subjects that I'm interested in, and that I think will (hopefully!) be useful for me in the future.

Aside from TAFE, a little bit of other news is that my piano is going fairly well. I'm doing Grade 6 this year. I HOPE to do the exam at the end of this year. Hope, hope, hope!!! I have to work really hard though. I also have to do a Grade 2 Theory Exam before then (probably in July), so I have to work on that as well. I'm enjoying it, and my last lesson went really, really well. My teacher made some encouraging comments (e.g. "This is much better than it was last week" and "If you can do all of your other scales as well as you did those, you'll be perfectly fine"), and that has made me lots more motivated.

Well, lunch break is finished... Catch ya next time :)

TAFE

Hi everyone,

From memory, I don't think I've ever posted about TAFE, and my wonderful best friend posted about her TAFE recently, and gave me the idea to tell you what's happening :)

For those of you that don't know, I'm studying Business Administration, Certificate III, at Gawler TAFE. I started in second semester last year, so I've studied for 3 terms so far.
I've studied things including marketing, OH & S (what fun!!), databases, spreadsheets, publishing, records management, human resources and reception.

I'm on my final subject now, which is Sales (Recommending a Product or Service), and I'm really enjoying it. I'm planning on asking my boss at work if I can go with one of our Sales Reps on a sales day trip, or even just when he visits a few businesses, to see how he goes through the sales process. It's really interesting, and I'd like to see what it's like and if I could see myself doing sales in the future. It would be a good experience anyway.

I can't really see myself doing sales--what do you think??? Please comment and let me know your thoughts!!

God bless.
